Vivekananda Educational Trust is a registered, non-profit service organization for Man-making education as propounded by Swami Vivekananda.
The Trust is a sister organization of the Vivekananda Educational Society founded in the year 1972 which is running a chain of several schools in the city of Chennai and its suburbs catering to more than 25,000 students following the CBSE Syllabus.
Both the Society and the Trust are having the roots from the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra of Kanyakumari.
Vivekananda Educational Trust is registered in the year 1991 as an offshoot of VES and started 5 schools in the very needy rural areas like Thiruninravur, Minjur, Periasekkadu-MMC, Mudichur, and Vallur.
SRF Vidyalaya, Manali, located in the Manali Industrial area, came under out tutelage in April 2015 and became our 6th Unit. Based on our reputation of being the best service provider in the realms of quality educare, the Shri Ram Fibres Limited (SRF) invited us to run the school and we took over the administration of the school in the academic year 2015-16.
These schools are following the State Board (Equitable Standard) syllabus with emphasis on NATIONAL CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK (NCF) 2005, providing learning solutions and excellent pedagogical interventions, nurturing 21st century skills, real time application of the concepts, reinforcing lateral thinking & creativity and offer them strategies towards a good academic career with nationalistic fervour.
Our 7th Unit Sri S.C. Agarwal R.T.95 Vivekananda Vidyashram @ Jayalakshmi Narasimhan VETRI campus – a non pareil premium school pursuing CBSE stream, at Jamin Endathur, near Madhuranthagam to provide high calibre educare to remote villages was implemented on the Vijayadasami Day - 11th October 2016.
At present in the 7 vidyalayas and one Skill Developement Institute run by the Trust, more than 6,000 students are offered educare. The school at Vallur is taken care of by the NCTPS (North Chennai Thermal Power Station) with regard to land & building. The Chief Donor for SRF Vidyalaya located at Manali Industrial Area is SRF Foundation. With regard to all the other 5 vidyalayas, “Kind Hearted Philanthropists Have Donated More than 10 Lakhs Each And Adopted The School”
Smt. Rukmani Lakshmanan Vivekananda Institute of Skill Development, the 8th unit of Vivekananda Educational Trust, at Thiruperumangalam, a village near Vaitheeswaran Koil, Sirkazhi Taluk, Nagapattinam District - a precursor to skilled India, to empower rural women through skill training, benefitting the rural women in the villages - is project of immense significance and nationalistic ideals. The focus is on giving back to the society through selfless service, build society and nation, build a strong character, generate empathy for others. The inauguration of Smt. Rukmani Lakshmanan Vivekananda Institute of Skill Development was on 25th September 2019. Tailoring course implementation started with joy on 8th October 2019, Vijayadasami Day - the day of victory. The response regarding the initiative was exuberant from the village. As on 10th October 2019, 24 women students of varied age groups have enrolled in the skill training course and started learning tailoring.
We, the Trustees, Members of the School Management Committees, Staff, Students and Parents salute these kind hearted people for their noble gesture and munificent donations. We also thank and acknowledge with gratitude the various other donors whose contributions have helped us to a great extent. Our current project of national significance, VETRI – Smt. Jayalakshmi Narasimhan Vivekananda Educational Teacher training & Research Institute, Kathadi Pannai, Jamin Endathur, Madhuranthagam is getting ready for implementation in the immediate future.
The need of the hour is to orient Teachers to Mentorship, ultimately towards shaping them as Guru and nurture children toward futuristic competencies alloyed with patriotism, spiritualism, selfless service and a balanced emotional quotient.
